This piece was found at a market in either Ispahan or Shiraz. I was told by the vendor that this diamond-shaped metal piece was half of a belt buckle. On the back side, a brass link confirms such an original purpose: Hold up those pants!

Trimmed in brass with hammered and stamped local silver strips surround the mouted amber stone.  Circa late 1900s est.  Found at a suq in Persia. A salmon-colored cord I had on hand turned combined with copper wire hooks, turned this old half buckle into a fashionable necklace.
